We shape lights through experimentation, in-house prototyping, and constant iteration with materials, much like sculptors.
Each light is crafted as a work of art, thoughtfully designed to stand the test of time. From the overall form to the intricate mechanics and the placement of each screw, we attend to every detail with the utmost care.
Kādns was founded in 2022 by Echo Zhan and Viola Yingqiu Huang, who became friends during their industrial design studies at ArtCenter College of Design in California.
While pursuing careers in the tech industry in Seattle and San Francisco after graduation, Echo and Viola’s shared passion for emotional design and entrepreneurship pulls them together to build a lighting brand that tells a unique message.
After a year and a half of developing their first collection as a side project besides their full-time jobs, Viola and Echo unveiled their brand and the Horizon Collection at Salone Satellite 2024. The overwhelming response solidified their decision to leave their tech careers behind and fully commit to building Kādns.
